History from Collins' History of Kentucky, 1877
Boyle county, the 94th in order of organization, was, after a struggle in the legislature for about thirty years, fromed in 1842, out of parts of Mercer and Lincoln counties, and named in honor of ex-chief justice John Boyle. It is bounded on the N by Mercer county, E by Garrard, S by Casey and Lincoln, and W by Marion. The soil generally is very deep and rich, and lies well for cultivation.
